皇居 - The Imperial Palace
This is a collection of shots from the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. Following the Nara Period of the late 6th to mid 8th century, the capital of Japan was moved to present day Kyoto. Even during the Bakafu rule of the Shogun, the capital and Imperial Family remained housed in the Imperial Palace of Japan. It was not until the late 19th century that the capital moved to Edo, now named Tokyo. Kyoto remains a strong cultural hub for Japan, as well as the historical center for the Arts.
